A drug addict allegedly killed his two-year-old son at Maguraghona village in Dumuria upazila under Khulna on Friday following a family brawl over buying drugs.
The deceased was identified as Hasanur Sardar, son of Harunur Rashid of the village.
Police and locals said Harun had an altercation with his wife Salma Begum at noon after she refused to give him money for buying drugs.
At one stage, Harun snatched Hasanur from Salma’s lap and threw him onto the ground, leaving him dead on the spot.
Hearing Salma’s screams, locals rushed in and caught Harun and handed him over to police after a good beating. 
Officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station M Tajul Islam said they recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue, according to a news agency.
