Oil spills in Bay as two tankers collide in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, July 1: Oil spilled in the Bay of Bengal waters as two oil tankers collided at the outer anchorage of the Chittagong Port early Friday morning.
Dhaka-bound Oil Tanker Bengal Spirit-1 carrying diesel collided with another tanker Partex-03 at the deep sea, nearly two nautical miles off buoy 02 of the outer anchorage about 2:45 am on Friday.
Coast Guard members of the CG patrol team helped discharge 80,000 litres of diesel from Bengal Spirit-1 with Coast Guard rescue ship MV Tauhid. An amount of oil leaked out of the tankers as their left sides got damaged just after the collision.
