The return of Ad Maker

Ad Maker Bangladesh, the biggest annual inter university marketing competition in Bangladesh organised by North South University Young Entrepreneurs Society (NSU YES), came back with a bang this year. A whopping 305 teams participated from 56 various universities from all over the country, making Ad Maker's sixth year a truly memorable one.

The creative battle, 'Robi Ad Maker Bangladesh 2016 coloured by Elite Paints', officially kicked off on May 6 with an inter-university workshop. The workshop consisted of an interactive and instructive guidance session conducted by some of the most notable marketing gurus in the country, all of whom generously spilled their secrets and knowledge on brand positioning, efficient media planning and establishing the true essence of marketing and branding. The ultimate fight for glory comprised of three heated rounds, the first two of which took place on May 13 and May 20 this year respectively.

Participating teams were asked to come up with unique promotional and marketing content for the event sponsors, Robi and Elite Paints, based on given scenarios and were then asked to pitch their ideas in front of a panel of distinguished judges from the corporate world. The teams were evaluated based on the feasibility, originality, and creativity of their ideas. Despite the challenging trials and hurdles, teams fought each other in both of the rounds with unmatched spirit and bravado. Regardless of the exhilarating head to head duels, only the top 12 teams made it to the final round, edging closer towards the coveted title.

In the third and final round, these 12 teams were asked to devise the best 360-degree thematic campaign to promote 10 Minute School. The grand finale was  held in North South University premises on May 31 and was presided over by Professor Atiqul Islam, the vice chancellor of North South University.

The eagerly anticipated evening was graced by the presence of M. A. Kashem, Chairman of North South University's board of trustees and Azim Uddin Ahmed, a member of North South University's board of trustees. The presence of special guests such as Professor Gour Gobinda Goswami, Treasurer of North South University, along with top officials of the university and Matiul Islam Nowshad, Chief Corporate and People Officer of Robi Axiata Limited further magnified the occasion.

After weeks of fierce competition and baited breaths, ‘Team MERAKI’ from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) won the battle of supremacy in this creative fight, followed by ‘Team BRAND EDGE’   and ‘Team TEAM’—-both  from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University as the first and second runners up respectively. The champions took home a prize money of Tk 1,50,000 along with Acer laptops from Executive Technologies Ltd, while the first and second runners up were awarded a sum of Tk 1,00,000 and Tk 80,000 respectively.
