The longstanding crisis of the democracy in Bangladesh can be overcome with national unity, practice of tolerance, increase of comprehensive wisdom and moral courage of the political leaders, said speakers at a roundtable in the city on Wednesday.

“Democracy has fallen into a deep crisis in Bangladesh. Lack of tolerance and patience in the political parties is the root-cause of it. Besides the leaders don’t care about their pre-election commitments and ignore people’s democratic rights and rule of law,” they opined.

The Centre for Strategic and Peace Studies (CSPS) organised the roundtable conference on ‘Crisis of Democracy - Security Issues’ at the National Press Club yesterday evening.
