General discussion on allegations against Sircar likely

After a two-day recess, the sitting of the third session of the Ninth Parliament resumes at 4:00pm today amid continued boycott by the opposition lawmakers.
General discussion on the report of probe committee on corruption allegations against former speaker Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar is likely to be held during the session that will prorogue on Tuesday.
However, parliament secretariat sources, said despite demands from the lawmakers, there is no possibility of holding general discussion on oil-gas exploration, Asian Highway, Tipaimukh Dam and law and order issues in the ongoing session. [Read more]
