Chief Election Commissioner Dr ATM Shamsul Huda yesterday apologised for not earlier inviting the ‘mainstream’ BNP for dialogue with the commission.
He said the mistake has caused waste of time in their preparation for the coming polls.
“I personally feel sorry about the matter. It was an unexpected occurrence which had killed our valuable time in formulating the election laws,” the CEC told an opinion-exchange meeting at the National Pres Club.
The Election Commission had talks with the breakaway faction of the immediate-past ruling party that it held as part of the pre-poll dialogue with the political parties. [Read more]
