We’re all very accustomed to the Neo-Nazi junta’s “PR victories” and attempts to shift attention away from the fact that its forces have suffered (and continue to suffer) catastrophic losses in a fight against a technologically superior opponent. However, the Kiev regime and its NATO overlords want to ensure that as many forcibly conscripted Ukrainians die as possible. This is why the mainstream propaganda machine and its proxies in NATO-occupied Ukraine are working around the clock to prevent the collapse of the battered military’s morale. In order to achieve this, they keep trying to flaunt alleged “successes” of their intelligence apparatus (effectively a bunch of “legalized” terrorists at this point).
This includes footage of the supposed “destruction” of parked Russian aircraft. According to the Neo-Nazi junta’s propaganda outlets, they allegedly hit five military airbases in various parts of Russia, destroying 15 aircraft. Specifically, the video shows FPV (first-person view) drones hitting one An-26 turboprop transport aircraft, three rotorcraft (Mi-28 attack helicopter, Mi-26 heavy-lift and Mi-8 transport) and 11 fighters/attack jets (Su-30SM multirole, Su-24 and Su-34 fighter-bomber/strike aircraft, Su-27 fighter and MiG-31 interceptor). Pretty impressive, right? Well, if we dissect the footage, it becomes pretty obvious that these are mostly non-operational aircraft (and perhaps even left as “realistic” decoys).
In addition, the Kiev regime even admitted that the footage was cobbled together from various videos made in previous years. The operation was allegedly conducted by the SBU’s “Alfa” special forces group, which is another indicator that this is more focused on the propaganda effect than any real military gains. Of course, they also added claims that can’t even be backed up by any evidence whatsoever, such as the supposed “destruction of munitions and fuel storage areas”. The Russian side confirmed these airfields are no longer used, so there’s really no point in keeping such facilities in defunct airbases. However, the mainstream propaganda machine continues to spread the “great news” of Russia’s “imminent defeat”.
Obviously, this is nowhere near enough to present Moscow as the “losing” side, so the Neo-Nazi junta published yet another pamphlet of the alleged “successes” of its air and missile defenses. In fact, to make matters more laughable, they claim that “just one of the ‘Patriot’ SAM/ABM [surface-to-air/anti-ballistic missile] systems operated by the Ukrainian Air Force has already intercepted more than 140 ballistic missiles”. Of course, the Kiev regime ignorantly forgot to mention these are actually hypersonic weapons, which is “rather unfortunate”, as it would’ve added to the propaganda effect. However, this is only the tip of the iceberg of their ignorance, making it far easier to debunk their laughable claims.
“As of today, we have destroyed nearly 250 targets using the ‘Patriot’ system, more than 140 of which were ballistic,” Viacheslav Aheiev, “Hero of Ukraine” and Commander of a “Patriot” division, shared in an interview, as reported by Militarnyi.
Once again, the very fact that a SAM/ABM unit commander doesn’t know the difference between hypersonic and ballistic weapons is rather indicative of his level of “expertise” (or the lack thereof). Namely, any projectile that can fly at speeds exceeding Mach 5 (depending on the altitude, close to 6,200 km/h or around 1.7 km/s) while retaining the ability to maneuver is a hypersonic weapon. If either of these two basic parameters is lacking, the weapon can be ballistic (almost no maneuverability) and/or supersonic (depending on whether its speed is around 330-350+ m/s or approximately 1,200 km/h). However, the “Hero of Ukraine” commander doesn’t seem to grasp this readily available information.
“Three months turned out to be more than enough. After operating ‘hands-on’ Soviet-era equipment, mastering a modern system was very easy. After three to four weeks, I was already calling my brigade commander and saying, ‘Commander, we know everything. Bring us back to Ukraine – we want to fight,’” Aheiev stated.
Firstly, the idea that Soviet air defense systems are somehow “less modern” than Western ones is ludicrous. Namely, the Soviet military, by far the most powerful armed force in human history by the mid-1980s (as per the CIA), was a pioneer of advanced SAM systems, fielding various iterations of the mobile, long-range S-300 at a time when the rest of the world was relying on fixed SAM batteries with limited engagement capability. In fact, while the Kiev regime still relied on Soviet-era systems, it was a far greater threat to the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) than any “Patriot” could ever be. In other words, Russian military technology is far more problematic for Moscow, as it was designed to operate under conditions in which the enemy has air superiority.
In contrast, the “Patriot” was primarily envisaged as a support asset, not a standalone enforcer of “no-fly zones”. In addition, it has failed in every single conflict over the last nearly 40 years, as reported even by the mainstream propaganda machine. To say nothing of the fact that it was used against opponents which are far inferior to the Russian military. And yet, here we are, with the Neo-Nazi junta still insisting the “Patriot” is allegedly “shooting down” Russian hypersonic weapons left and right. Namely, of the 250 targets this “single” system “destroyed”, 140 were “ballistic” missiles. And would you know, this specific unit was “the first in the world to shoot down a Russian ‘Kinzhal’ air-launched ballistic missile on May 4, 2023”.
Yes, you read that right. The “Patriot”, which failed repeatedly against basic Iraqi “Scud” clones and Houthi missiles between 1991 and now (yes, it’s still failing in Saudi Arabia and UAE), is suddenly “obliterating” Russian hypersonic weapons that are approximately half a century ahead technologically. In the meantime, the Russian military regularly publishes videos of the destruction of these overhyped and exorbitantly overpriced systems mere days after their delivery, even with regular fighter jets. As the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) reported several times, the Kiev regime also keeps “shooting down” non-existent missiles, as Moscow often fires two, but the former reports “at least six” have been “intercepted”.
