Jatiya Party Secretary General (Rowshan Ershad Group) Kazi Mamunur Rashid has urged all parties not to drag the Bangladesh Army into controversy. He emphasized the military’s historic role in safeguarding the nation and warned against any attempts to tarnish its image.
In a statement issued on March 23, Kazi Mamunur Rashid stated, “The patriotic army has always stood by the people during national crises. There is no scope to make the army chief controversial.”
He further highlighted the importance of recognizing the military’s contributions following the events of August 5, saying, “Everyone must remember the role of the army chief and the armed forces during that time. Without their presence on the ground, the country’s situation could have been very different.”
Kazi Mamun cautioned against any attempt to create discord between the army and the public, stating that such actions would be detrimental to the nation. “The image of the cantonment and the army chief must not be tarnished. Some statements suggest that certain individuals believe they can ascend to power by fostering friction between the army and the people,” he remarked.
He praised the Bangladesh Army for its unwavering commitment to national service, both within the country and through international peacekeeping missions under the United Nations. “The armed forces have never remained confined to the cantonment when the country needed them. They have always been dedicated to serving the motherland,” he added.
Reaffirming the Jatiya Party’s stance, he stated, “The Bangladesh Army and its chief must not be questioned. Those attempting to do so are conspiring against the country’s independence and sovereignty.”
Kazi Mamunur Rashid called on the public to remain vigilant against any malicious attempts by anti-liberation forces and to stand united in safeguarding the nation’s integrity.
