Paramount Textile leads transaction chart

Paramount Textile Monday topped the premier bourse's transaction chart while top ten traded companies captured more than 28 per cent of the day's total turnover value.
The total turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at Tk 3.42 billion on Monday, which was 5.78 per cent lower than the previous day.
Paramount Textile, Ratanpur Steel, Regent Textile, IFAD Autos, Square Pharmaceuticals, Evince Textile, Aamra Technologies, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, United Power and Agni Systems were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE.
Of them, share price of eight companies fell, one advanced and one remained unchanged over the previous session.
According to statistics available with the DSE, some 4.22 million Paramount Textile shares were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 140 million, which was 4.10 per cent of the day's total transaction.
The textile maker's share price hovered between Tk 32.30 and Tk 34.50, before closing at Tk 32.50 on Monday, registering a decline of 4.97 per cent over the previous day.
Paramount Textile, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in November 2013, disbursed 10 per cent cash and 7.0 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2016.
The company has also reported (un-audited) earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 0.45 for January-March period of 2017 as against Tk 0.50 for the same quarter in the previous year.
In nine months for July, 2016-March, 2017, EPS was Tk 1.20 as against Tk 1.30 for July, 2015-March, 2016.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.17 billion and authorised capital is Tk 2.0 billion, while the total number of securities is 117.31 million.
The sponsor-directors own 60.75 per cent stake in Paramount Textile, while institutional investors own 10.78 per cent, and general public 28.47 per cent as on April 30, 2017, the DSE data shows.
Ratanpur Steel emerged as second highest turnover, with shares of Tk 120 changing hands, capturing 3.51 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share closed at Tk 82.40 each, losing 2.60 per cent over the previous day.
Regent Textile featured a turnover of Tk 111 million, which was 3.25 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The textile company's share price fell 1.38 per cent to close at Tk 28.60 each.
IFAD Autos notched the fourth spot, with shares of Tk 106 million changing hands, contributing 3.10 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price closed at Tk 132.80, advancing 1.76 per cent over the previous day.
Square Pharmaceuticals featured a turnover of Tk 96 million which was 2.81 per cent of the day's total transaction. The pharma company's share price closed at Tk 280.90, remaining unchanged over the previous day.
Evince Textile witnessed a turnover of Tk 93 million, grabbing 2.72 per cent of the total value. The textile company's share price fell 2.16 to close at Tk 22.70 each.
The turnover of Aamra Technologies was Tk 83 million, which was 2.42 per cent of the day's total value. The IT company's share closed at Tk 38.10 each, losing 3.30 per cent over the previous day.
Bangladesh Shipping Corporation featured a turnover of Tk 81 million, capturing 2.36 per cent of the total transaction. The state-run company's share price fell 0.98 per cent to close at Tk 601.80 each.
The turnover of United Power was Tk 76 million, which was 2.22 per cent of total turnover value. The power generation company's share price closed at Tk 176.80 each, losing 1.34 per cent.
Agni Systems was also included in the turnover list with shares of Tk 59 million changing hands, capturing 1.72 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share price closed at Tk 27.50, losing 1.78 per cent over the previous session.
