Ten cos capture 25pc DSE turnover

Top ten traded companies accounted for about 25 per cent transaction of the premier bourse on Sunday with Saif Powertec topped the turnover chart.
Despite the market faced sharp decline, share prices of seven companies rose up to 5.62 per cent among the top ten turnover leaders while three faced correction up to 2.10 per cent compared to the prices of previous session.
Total turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at Tk 6.14 billion, a 12 per cent lower compared to the previous session.
Saif Powertec, LankaBangla Finance, Beximco, Mercantile Bank, United Power, Shahjibazar Power, Islamic Finance, BDCOM Online, Aamra Technologies and ACI were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE.
According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 6.85 million shares of Saif Powertec were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 298.54 million on the day. It was 4.86 per cent of the day's total turnover value.
The company's share price closed at Tk 43.60 each on Sunday, advancing 3.56 per cent over the previous session.
Saif Powertec disclosed third quarter (Q3) earnings result on Sunday. As per Q3 financial reports, consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 1.51 for January-March, 2017 as against Tk 0.87 for January-March, 2016.
LankaBangla Finance notched the second spot, featuring a turnover of Tk 224 million. It was 3.64 per cent of the DSE's total turnover value. The company's share price advanced fell 2.03 per cent to close at Tk 53 each.
Beximco emerged as third with shares of Tk 197 million changing hands, capturing 3.20 per cent turnover. The company's share price closed at Tk 34.20, which was 1.48 per cent higher than the previous session.
