Abbas blames AL syndicate for raising commodity prices

Mirza Abbas, member of BNP standing committee on Tuesday alleged that a ruling party-backed business syndicate is plundering public money by shooting up the prices of essentials ahead of Ramadan.
 “The government loudly declared the prices of essentials won’t go up during Ramadan as the market is under their control. But, we’re seeing the prices of all commodities have already shot up,” he said at a discussion in Dhaka.
Abbas further said, “The ruling party-backed business syndicate is looting public money by unusually hiking the prices of essentials ahead of the fasting month.”
Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, BNP’s youth wing, organised the programme at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the 35th death anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.
Abbas said Awami League men always try to make every occasion as their opportunity to make quick buck. “They’re not even ready to spare common people from plundering their money in the holy month of Ramadan”, according to UNB. - IH
