GDP to surpass 7pc this fiscal: Amu

DHAKA, April 30: Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said Bangladesh's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would exceed seven per cent this fiscal, with a record 1,466 US Dollar per capita income and a 29-billion dollar foreign exchange reserve at the central bank, because of the political foresight of the present government.

He made this statement before a large audience in Boston, USA while exchanging views with the New England Awami League leaders here, according to an official handout available here on Saturday.

Amu said both domestic and foreign investments have increased considerably due to liberal and investment-friendly policies of the government while many Asian and European nations have shown keen interest to invest in Bangladesh's special economic zones, according to a news agency.
