‘Follow public procurement law to stop corruption’

Dhaka, Apr 30: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad on Saturday urged the  government officials in the power sector to follow the Public Procurement Act and relevant rules in order to maintain highest level of transparency in project implementation.

 

"If you could follow the public procurement law and rules, it will prevent the scope of corruption," he told officials of different entities under Power Division at a training workshop at Bidyut Bhaban in the city.

 

Power Division organised the workshop titled: "National Integrity Strategy (NIS)" with power secretary Monwar Islam in the chair, who said the government has been giving utmost importance to maintaining transparency and accountability in project implementation.

 

The PM`s principal secretary also urged the power sector officials to frame the personal and organizational "Integrity Strategy" for making Bangladesh a welfare state.

 

"Integrity Strategy is a guideline for a person to make himself an apparently perfect one and in a same way it is the guideline for an organization to establish good governance in the state and society," he said, according to a news agency.
