Bangladesh Police opposes ruling party agenda

Information on the absconding killers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were put on official websites of Bangladesh police, Rapid Action Battalion and Dhaka Metropolitan Police since 1996 when Bangladesh Awami League first came in power under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. The contents were removed from the websites by the consecutive government of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Later, when military backed interim government took over power on January 11, 2007 under the leadership of General [Retired] Moeen U Ahmed, they even started making contacts with the absconding killers as well as those, who were inside prison in Dhaka awaiting death penalty and it was rumored that the military backed interim government of General Moeen were even attempting of giving patronization to the killers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in returning to Bangladesh. But such moves were seriously opposed by a number of influential figures in Bangladesh Army, including Brigadier General ATM Amin, Brigadier General Chowdhury Fazlul Bari etc, who told General Moeen that, giving any patronization to the killers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would put the label of abettors of killers on the backed interim government.
