Investigators found that ‘Fixims Bangladesh Limited’ supplied low quality food to the security personnel deployed for World Cup cricketers at Sheraton Hotel and at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday from Rahmania Hotel in the city’s Khilgaon area.

Toffazal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Motijheel Police Station, told The New Nation yesterday that police collected 26 evidences and sent those for the laboratory test.

Mohammad Nasiruddin, Sub-Inspector of the police station has filed a case against nine persons, including the owner of Rahmania Hotel Haji Mohammad Babul, his son Kazal, food suppliers Moshiur Rahman, Al Amin, Motin Mia, Roton Mia, Rubel, Rubama Ahmed and Saidul Islam.

Over 100 personnel from different law enforcement agencies deployed for the security of World Cup cricketers at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel and Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium fell sick after they had lunch on Thursday.

The sick personnel were admitted to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and Galaxy Hospital as they were vomiting and suffering from dehydration.

Members from police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), NSI, Ansar, and Fire Brigade deployed in the two places had chicken biriani cooked at Rahmania Hotel in Khilgaon Railway Gate area, said officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station Kazi Wazed Ali.

A mobile court, led by magistrate Anwar Pasha, awarded punishment to two persons.

 

Kazal, son of the proprietor of the food providing company Fixims Bangladesh Limited, was sentenced to one year in prison and fined Tk 200,000, and cook Mohammad Sultan was fined Tk 100,000, the magistrate said.
