One person was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League activists in Dak-bungalow area of Bera upazila headquarters yesterday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Azizul Haque, 28, son of Noimiddin and an activist of the municipal unit of the ruling party.
Police quoting locals said “there had been a longstanding conflict” between Manu Mannan, president of the AL municipal unit,
and councilor of the municipality and local AL leader Shamim Ahmed over capture of a sand quarry of river Hurasagar. [Read more]
