Temporary workers of Barapukuria Coalmine began their strike for an indefinite period yesterday to press home their 14-point demands.
Their demands include bonus, full-time payment to injured workers and two-day weekly leave .
Coalmine authority said coal extraction from the coalmine suffered partially due to their strike. Extraction continued as the permanent workers did not abstain from the work.
Nearly 2,000 tonnes to 2,500 tonnes of coal were used to be extracted before the temporary workers resorted to strike. [Read more]
