Tarique Rahman, BNP senior joint secretary general and elder son of ex-prime Minister Khaleda Zia, got loan waiver of Tk 12.16 crore during their rule, Finance Minister AMA Muhith informed the House yesterday.
Replying to a question of Muhibur Rahman Manik, the Finance Minister said, the BNP-led 4-party alliance government exempted Messrs Dandy Dyeing Limited, where Tarique was a director, from paying Tk 14 crore bank loan interests on October 16 in 2001.
He said that as per the data available in Bangladesh Bank CIB database (April 2009 monthly and March 2009 quarterly), the bank loan of Dandy Dyeing Limited amounted to Tk 40. [Read more]
