At least 3,800 offenders, including 20 listed criminals were netted in 13-day special police operation with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the capital.
Shahidiul Huq, the DMP Commissioner, was happy at the overall law and order situation in the city.
“Some small offences have increased, but overall law and order is good,” the Commissioner told a press briefing at the DMP headquarters yesterday.
Huq said a special operation is underway against extortion over mobile phone and mugging, and expressed the hope that extortion over mobile phone would come down to a reasonable level within one month bringing relief to the public. [Read more]
