Flood situation deteriorated in parts of the country yesterday, as many rivers continued to swell further.
The official Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) said more low-lying areas in the districts of Sirajganj, Tangail, Munshiganj, Manikganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Dohar and Nawabganj of Dhaka district, Shibganj and Sadar of Chapai-Nawabganj district are likely to inundate by next 24-48 hours.
The Ganges-Padma and the Meghna continued rising while the Brahmaputra and Jamuna registered fall at upstream points but continued rising at downstream points, the FFWC said in its latest bulletin. [Read more]
