Tarique’s release on bail hits snags: Govt, ACC seek stay on HC orders

The Government and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday appealed before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the High Court bail orders for Tarique Rahman in three cases.
The new development, apparently in the face of growing criticism of the Government’s move by certain political circle to free Tarique Rahman, is likely to delay the process of his release even further.
Advocate on record SM Khalequzzaman filed the appeal on behalf of the Government in the extortion case seeking a stay of the bail orders.
