A court sentenced Khulna mayor Tayebur Rahman to 10 years in prison Monday in a second case of extortion and fraud.
Another Khulna court sentenced Tayeb to seven years in jail in a separate extortion case the previous day.
Judge Md Nazrul Islam, of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court for Khulna, also sentenced Khulna city corporation public relations officer Sarder Abu Taher to 10 years in jail.
The judge fined the two Tk 1 lakh each and or another year behind bars in case of failure to pay the sum. [Read more]
