Two Jordanians were killed and an Israeli was wounded Sunday in a shooting at Israel’s embassy compound in Jordan.
The details of the shooting in Amman were not clear Sunday. Jordan’s Public Security Directorate said authorities were investigating what happened, and that the two Jordanians killed had entered the embassy compound in order to do carpentry work.
The Israeli government has not commented on the shooting.
Tensions between Israel and Jordan have increased in the past few weeks as the Jewish state installed metal detectors at a Muslim holy site in east Jerusalem of which Jordan is the Muslim custodian.
The new security measures led to protests Friday in Amman.
