Muggers take away money, biz docs from Chinese couple in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Jul 18: Snatchers allegedly took away a bag of a Chinese couple on their way to Dewanhat from Agrabad by a rickshaw in the city Tuesday.
Sub-inspector of Double Mooring police Kaiser Hamid said they have lodged a case with the police and the police were trying to trace the miscreants through checking the CCTV footage.
The foreign couple said they came here for business purpose. They had Tk 0.2 million and US $ 1,000 in cash, a laptop, business documents and identity cards in the bag.
Police said the Chinese couple came to Chittagong from Dhaka in the morning. They got down from an inter-district bus at Tiger Pass and went to Agrabad by a CNG auto-rickshaw.
They also went to St Martin Hotel in the city for booking a room, but were regretted as no room was available. Then they went to Land Mark Hotel, but there was no vacant room there. So, they went to Orchid Hotel but did not like the room.
From there the couple was going to Dewanhat by a rickshaw. As they came close to Dewanhat, the snatchers with an auto-rickshaw took their bag and fled the scene.
