Baraka Power Wednesday dominated the premier bourse's transaction chart while top ten traded companies grabbed 24 per cent turnover.
The total transaction on the DSE stood at Tk 11.65 billion on the day, which was 4.82 per cent lower than the previous day's value of Tk 12.24 billion.
Baraka Power, Keya Cosmetics, LankaBangla Finance, Paramount Textile, Regent Textile, Brac Bank, Fu-Wang Food, Saif Powertec, Mercantile Bank and Prime Bank were the most-active shares in terms of value on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
Of them, share price of eight companies advanced up to 5.88 per cent while two faced mild correction.
According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 9.52 million shares of Baraka Power were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 444 million, which was 3.81 per cent of the premier bourse's total turnover value.
The power generation company's share price hovered between Tk 45.40 and Tk 47.30, before closing at Tk 47.10 on Wednesday, advancing 3.97 per cent over the previous session.
Baraka Power, which was listed on the bourses in 2011, disbursed 15 per cent cash and 5.0 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2016.
Baraka Power is a joint venture of local and Non Resident Bangladeshi (NRB) group of entrepreneur. The power company was incorporated in Bangladesh on 26th June 2007.
The company's consolidated third quarter (Q3) earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.77 for January- March period of 2017 as against Tk 0.74 for the same period a year ago.
In nine months for July, 2016 to March, 2017, consolidated EPS was Tk 2.40 as against Tk 2.27 for same period in the previous year.
The company's paid-up capital is nearly Tk 1.74 billion and authorised capital is Tk 3.0 billion, while the total number of securities is 173.96 million.
The sponsor-directors own 19.91 per cent stake in Baraka, while institutional investors own 17.33 per cent, foreign investors 0.54 per cent and the general public 62.22 per cent as on June 30, 2017, the DSE data shows.
Keya Cosmetics followed next, with shares of Tk 332 million changing hands, capturing 2.85 per cent turnover. The company's share closed at Tk 16.20, soaring 5.88 per cent over the previous session.
LankaBangla emerged as third with shares of Tk 313 million changing hands. It was 2.68 per cent of the total turnover value. The company's share price rose 0.52 per cent to close at Tk 57.90 each.
Paramount Textile notched the fourth spot, with shares of Tk 278 million changing hands, contributing 2.39 per cent of the turnover. The company's share price closed at Tk 39.20, advancing 2.62 per cent.
Regent Textile featured a turnover of Tk 273 million which was 2.34 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price fell 0.63 per cent to close at Tk 31.50.
The turnover of Brac Bank was Tk 235 million, capturing 2.02 per cent of the day's total value. The bank's share price closed at Tk 86.80, gaining 0.12 per cent.
Fu-Wang Food featured a turnover of Tk 229 million, which was 1.96 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price rose 4.35 per cent to close at Tk 19.20 each.
The turnover of Saif Powertec was Tk 220 million, capturing 1.89 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share price closed at Tk 46.50, gaining 1.97 per cent.
Mercantile Bank featured a turnover of Tk 215 million, which was 1.84 per cent of the day's total. The company's share price rose 2.56 per cent to close at Tk 20.
Prime Bank was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of Tk 201 million changing hands. The bank's share price closed at Tk 24, losing 0.41 per cent over the previous session.
