A rickshaw- puller was hit by a shotgun bullet fired 'accidentally' by an on-duty police constable in the capital's Paltan area on Tuesday.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp spokesman Bacchu Mia said the rickshaw- puller, Md Hanif, 35, got wounded in the chest, hands and back by a rubber bullet fired by a policeman in Paltan.
According to a news agency, DMP Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain said initially police have found that the bullet was shot from a shotgun of an on-duty constable by mistake that injured the rickshaw-puller.
He said that the incident is under investigation and appropriate action would be taken against the police officer if he is found guilty of any negligence.
