The visiting US Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Dr Sarah Sewall called for united efforts of all concerned to curb rising terrorism, extremism and violence across the world, according to a press release.
She said all, specially local and central administrations, media persons, young leaders, researchers and professionals should work together to overcome this situation.
Dhaka University (DU) can play a key role to create awareness against terrorism, extremism and violence, Dr Sarah said.
The US Under Secretary was delivering a special public lecture on "Our Common Struggle Against Violent Extremism" organised by the Department of International Relations of DU on Wednesday. The programme was held at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of DU.
DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, among others, were present were present at the programme.
