Professor Atiqul Islam has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor (VC) of North South University (NSU) by the Chancellor and President of Bangladesh, says a press release.
He officially joined the NSU on Thursday (Feb 25).
Earlier, he served as the Pro-VC of Edith Cowan University in Australia and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Government at the University of Canberra.
He also served at the University of Sydney, NSW, Curtin University, University of Canterbury and the National University of Singapore.
Professor Islam published articles in national and international journals. He edited a business journal for over a decade, reviewed articles, reviewed research funding proposals for Australian Research Council and for a Saudi University.
He has supervised and examined a large number of post graduate theses, including PhD.
He presented papers in international research conferences including the prestigious American Accounting Association, the British Accounting Association as well as the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand.
Professor Islam holds B.Com Honours and M.Com both in First Class from the University of Dhaka (DU). He obtained a Master’s from the University of New South Wales and a PhD from the University of Sydney.
He is also a fellow of CPA Australia and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand, according to Press Release./Jannatul
