Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River resumed after 10 hours of disruption caused by dense fog on Monday morning.
Salahuddin, manager (commercial) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha ghat, said they kept suspended ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route from 11:30pm on Sunday to 9:30am on Monday due to blurred visibility caused by dense fog.
Three ferries remained motionless in the middle of the river, according to a news agency report.
About 400 hundred vehicles, including buses, trucks and cars, remained stranded at Paturia while 200 vehicles at Daolatdia ghat.
Passengers suffered most as number of vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.
Later, ferry services resumed around 9:30am as fog disappeared, said Salahuddin.
