U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will resign from her position to become president of the University of California system, government sources told Reuters on Friday.

Napolitano confirmed on Friday she will leave her position and thanked President Barack Obama for the chance to serve the country as part of his Cabinet.
