Syrian government forces continued their assault Monday in the besieged commercial city of Aleppo after claiming the upper hand in fighting with outgunned and outmanned rebels.

Opposition activist groups say battles continued in several parts of Aleppo. The opposition-linked Local Coordination Committees reported that three people were killed there, while two others were killed in and around Damascus.
