A fire broke out at a chemical warehouse at Armanitola in the densely populated Old Dhaka in the morning yesterday.
Abdur Rashid, Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the fire originated in the warehouse on the ground floor of a three-storey building near Anandamayee School at about 11:40 am. The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately, he said.
The Deputy Director, however, also could not say anything specific about the extent of damage caused by the inferno.
Locals managed to bring the fire under control before the fire fighters reached the spot, Rashid said. [Read More]
