10 trawlers capsizes in Bay: 1.5 lakh marooned : 140 fishermen missing in 6 coastal districts

Non stop rainfall for the last two days flooded six coastal districts of Bhola, Khulna, Satkhira, Pirojpur, Barisal and Patuakhali rendering reportedly 1.50 lakh people either marooned or displaced.
Ten trawlers sank in the northern Bay of Bengal for the heavy late rainfall and 140 fishermen are presumed to be missing by the tidal surge.
Patharghata Trawler Workers Handling Association general secretary Hafizur Rahman confirmed the mishap said that the trawlers had ventured into Indian waters as they had been at a loss when they fell upon the storm. [Read More]
