OMS of rice resumes today

The government yesterday restarted Open Market Sale (OMS) of rice in the capital and different districts of the country, considering the plight of the limited income group.
Under the OMS programme, a person can buy five-kg rice at a time. The rate of one kg rice has been fixed at Tk 24. Dealers will sell a total of 33 thousand metric ton of rice each week, allowing each truck to sell three tonnes of rice.
Initially, the rice is being sold in the capital, Gazipur, Narsingdi, Narayanganj districts and Savar upazila in Dhaka and other seven divisional cities in the country, concerned ministry sources said. [Read More]
