The government will build a separate railway bridge beside the Bangabandhu (Jamuna) Bridge to ease pressure on its structure.
At the same time, another bridge will be built over the river linking Phulchhari and Bahadurabad Ghat to ease the burden of traffic.
Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain announced this plan to save the bridge in a short press briefing after a visit by South Korean Ambassador Tai Young Cho at his office on Thursday.
