After many dramas and speculations, Bangladeshi- born British national Luthfor Rahman secured the Labour Party ticket to contest for the first ever election of the Executive Mayor of the Tower Hamlet Borough.
Luthfor got the highest votes among seven Labour Party candidates who were on the short list. About 1,000 Labour members select their candidates through secret ballots. Luthfor got almost double the votes than his nearest rival John Biggs.
