The anthrax has spread in new areas, infecting 165 people, including 38 anew in last 24 hours, a senior health official said on Thursday, urging people not to be panicked as the disease is both preventable and curable.
Director of Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Dr Mahmudur Rahman said anthrax has spread to Faridpur upazila of Pabna district on Wednesday night outside the four already affected upazilas of Shahjadpur, Belkuchi and Kamarkhand in Sirajganj and Shanthia in Pabna.
