Ershad’s military regime illegal : He can’t get away from consequences and can be suitably punished: HC

The High Court (HC) yesterday declared the Seventh Amendment to the Constitution void, illegal and made without lawful authority.
The amendment passed in the parliament in 1986 legalised take-over of state power by Let Gen (Retd) Hussain Muhammad Ershad and all the acts under his military rule.
The court also declared illegal military take-over of Ershad; proclamation of martial law and regulations; orders; instructions and all other acts done during the rule between March 24, 1982 and November 10, 1986. [Read More]
