TCB steps for market intervention inadequate

A meeting of the Ministry of Commerce yesterday found the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) preparation for market intervention faulty as only 55 dealers, out of more than 250 in the city and 1,800 across the country, so far withdrew commodities from the TCB godown for selling at cheap price.
The TCB dealers are given sugar and edible oil 3 ton each and 1 ton lentil and gram at subsidized rate to sell among the poor people during the month of holy Ramzan as part of market intervention as well as help poor people.
