Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury yesterday said that the government would provide diesel subsidy for Boro irrigation to farmers directly instead of pumps owners across the country.
“The Ministry of Agriculture provided subsidy to owners of irrigation pumps earlier,” she said after an inter-ministerial meeting on Boro irrigation at her Secretariat office.
Matia said that 1.82 crore agro-card holding farmers would get the subsidy.
She said farmers will get uninterrupted electricity supply from 11pm to 5am for Boro irrigation. [Read more]
