Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Barrister Shafique Ahmed yesterday introduced a bill in the Jatiya Sangsad seeking to drop the provision of issuance of arrest warrant from the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 for defamatory statement or publication by any individual or newspaper or book.
According to the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2010 summons will be issued instead of warrant of arrest in such a situation to stop harassment against any individual, writer or journalist, editor or publisher. [Read more]
