The Appellate Division yesterday upheld the High Court (HC) verdict that had earlier declared the appointment of Kazi Habibul Awal as the Secretary to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs as illegal.
A seven-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Justice Tafazzul Islam, after hearing, dismissed two appeals filed by Kazi Habibul Awal and the government.
A bench of the High Court on January 18, 2008 in a judgment declared the appointment of Habibul Awal as acting law secretary illegal.
Awal filed an appeal against the High Court order that day. [Read more]
