Supreme Court judge M Tafazzul Islam was Tuesday elevated to Chief Justice of Bangladesh, to hold office for only 47 days left before his retirement.
An official announcement said, “President M Zillur Rahman in exercise of his power under article 95 of the Constitution made the appointment”.
Justice Tafazzal’s appointment comes through superseding Justice M Fazlul Karim.
The appointment comes into effect on December 23, as incumbent Chief Justice MM Ruhul Amin goes on retirement on December 22 at the age of 67. [Read more]
