Home Minister Sahara Khatun yesterday said there is no restriction on foreign devotees to attend the Biswa Ijtema to be held on December 22-24.
After a meeting at her ministry on security at the Biswa Ijtema, she told reporters that 18,000 foreign devotees from 80 countries joined the Ijtema last year.
This year, 30,000 to 40,000 from over 100 countries are likely to join the Ijtema, the second largest Muslim congregation after Hajj. The annual congregation will be held in Tongi on the bank of the River Turag. [Read more]
