Arrest warrant in libel case to go

The government is going to pass a law that would scrap the provision for court to issue warrant of arrest in defamation cases against journalists, editors, writers and publishers.
“Uunder the current law an arrest warrant is issued just after a defamation case is filed against any journalist, editor, publisher or a writer. But the new law will prohibit issuance of such warrants while the court can issue summons,” Abul Kalam Azad, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister told journalists after the weekly cabinet meeting at the conference room of the Press Information Department (PID).
