The government, for the second time in its 11 month tenure yesterday, slashed the prices of non-urea fertilizers to almost half announcing to provide an additional subsidy of Tk 500 crore to the agricultural sector.
“The readjusted rates take immediate effect from today (Monday), as massive farming activities for robi crops are already underway across the country while irrigated paddy cultivation season is not so far off, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury told journalists.
She was addressing the press to announce the massive price cut of fertilizer at the conference room of her ministry yesterday. [Read more]
