The Election Commission (EC) is facing credibility question as the Supreme Court (SC) Sunday stripped Maj (retd) Jasim Uddin of his parliament membership, who was elected from Bhola-3 constituency on Awami League nomination.
The SC upheld a High Court verdict declaring illegal the impugned action of the EC that had directed the Returning Officer to accept Jasim’s nomination paper for contesting the December 29, 2008 general election “in violation” of the Representation of People Order (RPO). [Read more]
