Some 2,107 people have been killed across the country since the present government came to power in early January this year.
This was informed in parliament by Home Minister Sahara Khatun in her written reply during the question hour. She did not elaborate who and why so many people were killed.
The Home Minister apparently tried to justify the number of killings comparing with the figures during the 2-year old army backed caretaker government.
She said about 8,000 people were killed during the caretaker government, including 3,863 in 2007 and 4,099 in 2008. [Read more]
