The vigour and speed with which the RAB used to function for reining in the hardened criminals and suppressing the activities of the anti-state elements in the country has of late diminished to some extent following the absorption of its informers in different police departments.
Nearly 2,000 informers were associated with 14 battalions of the elite force to sniff the criminals and the anti-state elements and help it to hunt down them.
Most of the informers are now working with the police, detective branch and criminal investigation department as RAB is unable to maintain them due to fund constraint. [Read more]
