Two cadres of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (ML-Janajuddha), including its regional commander, were killed in a gunfight between their cohorts and law-enforcers at Amala Char Para village in Mirpur upazila early on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Jahangir Hossain, 34, son of Daud Hossain, regional commander of the party and his accomplice Yearul Haque, 32, of Paikpara village in Doulatpur upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of detectives of Mirpur thana and police of Doulatpur thana conducted a drive near a canal at the village at about 3:30am where the outlaws were holding a clandestine meeting. [Read more]
